BRUNSWICK COUNTY, NC (WECT) - A man in Brunswick County tried to grab a gun during a scuffle late Friday evening, according to sheriff's officials.
The Brunswick County Sheriff's Office has charged Ian Chandler Bellamy-Brown, 18, on a charge of assaulting a deputy among other charges. According to arrest warrants, Deputy Hardee was responding to a disturbance call when Bellamy-Brown ran from the deputy. At some point, Bellamy-Brown attempted to grab a 9mm handgun while the deputy was on top of him, according to the warrants.
Bellamy-Brown was also charged with having 2.4 grams of marijuana and other drug paraphernalia. Bellamy-Brown was arrested Saturday and taken to the Brunswick County Jail where he is being held on a $150,000 bond.
