BRUNSWICK COUNTY, NC (WECT) – Several church communities in the area are offering up a free meal to those in need on Thanksgiving.
Hard working volunteers at Trinity United Methodist Church in Southport spent all week preparing to feed the less fortunate.
This is the first community Thanksgiving meal in the church's history.
It's all free and open to the public, starting on Thursday at noon.
Church members will even deliver meals to homebound seniors in the area.
Debby Sarniak from Trinity United Methodist Church says that over 70 people have already signed up and organizers are looking forward to helping the less fortunate.
"Thanksgiving is a time where people need to be together, not alone. This is a retirement community, so for a lot of people are away from family," said Sarniak. "So this gives the single couples who can't be near their children a chance to come out and have a meal and just get out and enjoy the day."
