Sunset Beach’s Summer Concert Series starts May 29

BRUNSWICK COUNTY, NC (WECT) – Sunset Beach’s Summer Concert Series kicks off soon, according to a Facebook page created by event organizers.

The series starts May 29 and goes until Sept. 4. Concerts will take place every Wednesday from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m.

The Fat Jack Band will kick off the first concert.

BRUNSWICK COUNTY, NC (WECT) - Throughout the year Jessie Mae Monroe Elementary students have explored the life and culture of children in Africa, Australia, and Asia. 

Through artistic impression, their learning has been brought to life and now everyone can experience their work at the 10th annual Gotta Have Art show!

Crawl through a student-made cave and experience student art work lining the hallways.  Listen as students demonstrate their musical skills.  This one of a kind art show is a feast for the senses!

The event is Tuesday, May 14 from 6:00 p.m.-8:00 p.m.  Admission is free

BRUNSWICK COUNTY, NC (WECT) – The Town of Sunset Beach will celebrate its 50th Anniversary next Saturday with a beach party.

According to the town, the party will be on the sand by the gazebo May 18, 11 a.m. – 2 p.m.

Everyone is invited to celebrate food, fun and music.

Enjoy a free concert at BCC this weekend

BRUNSWICK COUNTY, NC (WECT) – The Brunswick Concert Band from Brunswick Community College is hosting a free concert Sunday.

Pack some snacks and grab your lawn chairs to listen to some local talent for a day filled with fun for the whole family.

The event will be held on the lawn in front of the Odell Williamson Auditorium at 3:00 p.m.

In the event of inclement weather, the concert will be held indoors.

West Brunswick Trojans take on the S. Columbus Stallions

BRUNSWICK COUNTY, NC (WECT) – The West Brunswick Trojans will host the South Columbus Stallions in basketball Friday night.

According the WBHS website, tip off for the JV women’s team will be at 4:00 p.m. followed by the JV men.

After the JV teams wrap up, the varsity women will take the court. The varsity men will finish up the night.

Good luck to both teams.

If you are looking for quality family entertainment--our own rendition of American Idol--save Saturday, February 2, for a special fun time! 

Spotlight on Talent, Brunswick County School's annual high-school talent show, will be held at 7:00 PM at Odell Williamson Auditorium on the campus of Brunswick Community College.  The outstanding student acts come from South Brunswick High School, North Brunswick High School, West Brunswick High School, and the Early College High School. 

There will be no admission charge; however, donations for the county's choral music program are always appreciated.  We also encourage those coming to bring non-perishable food or beverage items so that we can help restock our local food pantry. 

Join our Master of Ceremony, Jon Evans from WECT, and come prepared to be amazed as we showcase our very talented students!

BRUNSWICK COUNTY, NC (WECT) – If you’re looking for some family-friendly fun, the Museum of Coastal Carolina will be hosting bingo games soon—but not just any kind of bingo.

On Saturday, Jan. 12, you and your family can participate in beach and nature-themed family bingo, according to the museum’s website.

The fun starts at 11 a.m., and prizes will be awarded to winners.
