Conflicting reports surround investigation into Sunset Beach Police officer

SUNSET BEACH, NC (WECT) – An officer with the Sunset Beach Police Department is under investigation after a DWI arrest he made was dismissed last week by the Brunswick County District Attorney's Office.

Sunset Beach Police Chief Lisa Massey said Officer Jamie Clemmons was suspended after a meeting with the DA's office, where it was determined that there was no criminal violation, but possibly an ethical one.

According to an arrest report, Clemmons arrested Patricia Barbour for DWI last May. Her son, Bobby Barbour, said the incident happened at the Sunset Beach Police Department.

"They claim she went to the police department intoxicated. Think about it, anyone who drinks does not go to the police department when drunk. They go opposite of police," said Bobby Barbour.
