Sunset Beach’s Summer Concert Series starts May 29

BRUNSWICK COUNTY, NC (WECT) – Sunset Beach’s Summer Concert Series kicks off soon, according to a Facebook page created by event organizers.

The series starts May 29 and goes until Sept. 4. Concerts will take place every Wednesday from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m.

The Fat Jack Band will kick off the first concert.

BRUNSWICK COUNTY, NC (WECT) – The Museum of Coastal Carolina will be hosting a program on beach safety on Saturday, according to a museum spokesperson.

Starting at 11 a.m., attendees will learn what to do if caught in a rip current, learn when and when not to go swimming and more information about basic beach safety.

BRUNSWICK COUNTY, NC (WECT) – You can give the gift of blood soon in Brunswick County -- Brunswick Community College will be hosting a blood drive, according to event organizers.

You can donate Tuesday, June 18 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

The college is located at 150 College Road NE in Supply.

Forum on business in Brunswick County happening soon

BRUNSWICK COUNTY, NC (WECT) – A public forum will take place soon for Brunswick County businessmen and women are asked to share their opinions on how the county can become a better place to do business, according to an event organizer.

Participants will also share issues and challenges they have faced and offer potential solutions.

Sunset Beach receives grant for town park

 

SUNSET BEACH, NC (WECT) – Sunset Beach officials are celebrating a big win for the town. According to Councilwoman Karen Joseph, the town of Sunset Beach was awarded a grant for the developments of its town park.

The grant is worth more than $400,000. The money will be given to the town by the North Carolina Parks and Recreation Trust Fund.

Joseph says the next step for the council is to review park proposals and requests to be part of the project.

YWCA Lower Cape Fear receives $15, 000 grant award for the fluid recovery program

(Wilmington, NC, May, 2013) -  The YWCA Lower Cape Fear is pleased to announce that it has received a $15,000 grant from the Cape Fear Memorial Foundation for the Fluid Recovery program, which was developed in partnership with the Pretty in Pink Foundation. The Fluid Recovery program is modeled after the YWCA USA’s Encoreplus program that was created over 30 years ago.
