BRUNSWICK COUNTY, NC (WECT) – A Brunswick County company is giving two local middle school students the chance to attend summer basketball camps.
According to a news release, Brunswick Electric Membership Corporation will be providing scholarships to Touchstone Energy summer basketball camps, which take place at two NC college campuses.
One girl and one boy will be chosen for the scholarships, and the winners will be chosen based on academics, extracurricular activities and an essay.
Boys can apply for a scholarship to attend the Roy Williams Basketball Camp, which will take place from June 15-19 at UNC Chapel Hill. Girls can apply to go to the Kellie Harper Basketball Academy, scheduled for August 1-4 at NC State University.
Students need to be rising sixth, seventh and eighth graders to be eligible.

Shallotte Middle School student Journee Matthews was recently recognized during a halftime presentation at an NC State women’s basketball game after earning a 2012 Touchstone Energy Sports Camp scholarship from Brunswick EMC.
On Feb. 3, Matthews and 18 other Touchstone Energy basketball camp scholarship Reynolds were reunited at Reynolds Coliseum in Raleigh, where they watched the lady Wolfpack play Wake Forest University.
