Commissioners approve $2.1 million grant for new 911 center

BRUNSWICK COUNTY, NC (WECT) – Brunswick County is one step closer to getting a new 911 center. According emergency services director Anthony Marzano, commissioners unanimously approved accepting a $2.1 million grant for the new facility.

The grant comes from the North Carolina 911 Board. The county was able to get the grant because it will consolidate its 911 operations with Oak Island’s. The new facility will be built behind the county’s current 911 center.

"Right now in our 911 center we're maxed out in terms of space and so if we have a hurricane situation we lack the terminal space to be able to bring in help with the additional calls and dispatching having a new 911 center will allow us to have that space available," said emergency services director Anthony Marzano.
